Apprentice to an anchor
Am I
Of seafaring pursuits
Water and land entwined
My soul embarked upon
A voyage
To master
This power of mine
Surface of the ocean
Translucent with the sun rays
Dark and stinging are her depths
Shipwrecks sentenced to decay
The Ocean
She provides
The battlefield
To practice
Summon and wield
This power of mine
An apprentice, I
My master, Anchor
Once cloaked a curse
Revealed a blessing
This powerful force of mine
To feel so intensely iron
A steel anchor
I once allowed
My soul to sink
To the bottom of the ocean
Lifeless
The dark black sand
Was where I summoned all my strength
And chose
To search for dry land
Bound to this anchor
I gathered her
And tied her to my back
Making peace
With burdens be
Instead of counterforce attack
Treading on the ocean floor
One step at a time
Defying laws of gravity
Embracing this force of mine
No air did I need
For I left my body behind
This was a new being of me
Trusting this force of mine
In treading did I see
A sliver of the sun's light
I kept pushing through water
Continuing my soul's fight
As I reached the beginning
Of the water's end
The anchor released from me
She nestled in the sand grove
And peace she made with me
Almost weightless
Almost free
I surrendered to the wave
Allowing sea to carry me
Upon the shoreline cascade
Crashing down so softly
The dry sand wrapping me
The water and I parted ways
As tide returned to sea
My Odyssey
Completed
The powerful force
I fought and fought
I now accept
I'm my own Anchor
Mastering the sea
But no longer bound myself
In water or land, I'm free
