A cross-examination of humility with modern expectations

If we are what we are around

I don’t know what that makes me

A mixture of street smart

Street mediocre

Street below average

When did average

Become below average?

An average blonde

There are a million of me

Well make that a billion

(We’ve highlights in the 21st century)

Anything I think, do, say

Odds are someone else thought, did, said them too

Why do we need to feel unique?

When it might be a mirage

I wake up, go to work, go to bed

Maybe I go to the gym

Or maybe I sit at home

Thinking

I should go to the gym

Maybe

I go to the gym

Look in the mirror

And think to myself

How did I get here

An average blonde

Doing average things

When did the word average

Start to hurt

Start to sting

Maybe

I used to be above average

And now I’m average

Maybe I was average

And now below average

Maybe everyone

Just grew

Above average

Good for them

I used to have wings

I used to fly

And now I try to forget

Try not to ask why

So this is what average feels like

Does everyone else feel this way too

I lost the sparkle in my eye

An average life, passing through
