I breathed in the fire

Scorched my throat

Blackened my lungs

Inhaled fuel

Sacrificed my tongue

Red

Bright flames

Dulled neutral

Bold

Pulling myself

Out of the pit

Dusting off ashes

Burned and muted

Unable to speak

I found comfort

In the rubbled silence

For I realized

If my words were meaningless

So were his

Freeing me

Of Hell's flames

The serene silence

My self-imposed isolation

No longer red

No more heaving heavy heart bled

Lying by blue waters

Burns cooled by the River

What used to be my grave

Is now my well-rested bed
