Longing

I have this longing for

A July afternoon

Thursday

4pm

Shutting my laptop for a moment

Reminding myself to blink

Walking downstairs

Barefoot

Passing Dad in his office

Writing another sticky note

Through the hall

Through the kitchen

Leftovers

Dishwasher swishing

Opening the door to the deck

Seeing Mom on the couch

Reading a magazine from Grandma

Sitting next to her

After missing her all day

Birds chirping

Swaying green trees

No where I need to go

Safe

In a moment of time

Where my head and heart

Are still
