Willow Mother

Protects me

Shields me from the storm

Her weeping strands surround me

Keeping me dry until morn

When I awake

This day renewed

The rain still roams free

Willow Mother

She stands so strong

Fiercely shielding me

I glance through her vines

See the wash away rain

I don't understand Willow Mother

The rain gives her life

Yet causes weeping pain

Willow Mother so strong

Yet stagnant I fear is she

She let the roots weigh her down

An Earth-root planted tree

Weeping Willow Mother

Kept me safe and dry

The only water remaining

Drip drop tears that she cries

Every time a storm clears

Is she reminded

Her children walk freely

But to the Earth she is binded

A storm

A reminder

Of the roots bounded deep

For her children will visit

But depart before night's sleep

Willow Mother

Awaits

Longingly at the sun high

And softly smiles

Because she sees

One gray cloud in the sky
